Public key is one of the two cryptographic keys used in public key cryptography or encryption usually in asymmetric encryption techniques. The public key, as its name implies, is released to the public and it is used to encrypt data prior to transmission to the holder of the corresponding private key. Or else, it is used to decrypt data that has been encrypted with the corresponding private key. And it is used to verify the digital signature of a given user in communication.
