Vishing or VoIP phishing attack is electronic cyberattack or fraudulent act that tricks individual to divulge sensitive and critical information such as financial and personal through the phone. And it can be launched by smartphones, voice emails, voice over IP (VoIP) or landline telephone systems. The cybercriminals try to access and collect, organizational or individual data and use it for their advantage such as for financial gains.

The main motive vishing based cyberattacks is to obtain sensitive financial data or individuals’ data who manages to answer phones calls. The attackers deceive organizations and individuals to stage identity thefts through driver’s license, credit card numbers, access credentials and other sensitive personal data.
