What are Naming methods in oracle network configuration ?

Naming methods is  the process how clients connect  to oracle database.

Oracle Net Supports several Naming methods:

• Easy connect naming: Uses a TCP/IP connect string and requires no client side configuration

  SQL>connect  merebatech/mereba@host:1521/serviceName

• Local Naming: Uses a local configuration file ,requires a client side Names Resolution file and supports all Oracle Net protocols

  SQL>connect merebatech/mereba@net-service-name

• Directory Naming: Uses a centralized LDAP-compliant directory server and Requires LDAP with oracle Net Names Resolution information loaded (OID, Microsoft Active directory services)

  SQL > connect merebatech/mereba@orcl

• External Naming: Uses a supported non oracle naming services
