A firewall is a computer networks connection device that controls or limits data communication flow between two networks that are linked together. Furthermore, a firewall can be a general purpose computer application or a specialized appliance that forwards or rejects/drops packets on a given network. Firewalls are commonly used to define zone boundaries or segmentation. Besides, firewalls usually have rules that limit which ports or services can be accessed.
